It’s felt like a long time coming, but summer is finally in Vancouver!
Longer days and warmer nights are making each one of us just that little bit happier. It’s true that Vancouver is at its best in summer, and for us at The Art House Supper Club, summer months mean alfresco dining in our beautiful yard.
Looking to celebrate a special occasion in a unique setting? Book your private dinner party for a group of eight to 20-something guests at our supper club! Depending on the size of your group we will be able to accommodate either a four-course sit down dinner, or a cocktail-style party with a plethora of tapas to meet all tastes.
Some people say that a great dinner is not complete without a delicious dessert. We at The Art House think those people are right!
All of our dinners served at The Art House Supper Club, North Vancouver’s only secret supper club, include a delicious homemade dessert freshly prepared by our chef.
Our Hearty Italian Menu is our most popular meal, and we have tried multiple desserts to go with it since starting our supper club in May 2016. This spring, we found one which compliments this Italian feast perfectly: a light, espresso flavoured flan made with real coffee. This dessert is much lighter than our previous amaretto cheesecake, but fear not, if you book a private dinner and wish to get the cheesecake for your group instead, we are happy to oblige!

Our Light French Supper has one of my favourite sweets, a unique French dessert called “floating islands” made of a fluffy boiled meringue over a bed of creme anglais, topped with toasted almonds and burnt caramel. This multi-textured dessert is not only delicious, but also beautiful – and a real treat to your palate.
A newcomer to our menu this year, our family’s tasty tiramisu recipe has gotten raving reviews from our guests. Full of flavour and incredibly satisfying, but surprisingly light, this is the perfect dessert to top our filling Ossobuco Dinner. When we can, we often add seasonal berries to the tiramisu for an extra burst of flavour.
Another crowd favourite is our pistachio custard pie, served with our Mediterranean BBQ dinner. Incredibly creamy and full of flavour, topped with crushed pistachios for a crunch – this dessert never fails to impress our guests.
Our seafood dinner is complemented with a strawberry tart, a light sponge cake recipe from Germany that has been in our family for as long as we can remember. The sponge is topped with fresh strawberries and homemade gelatin, and we serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
If your party is too big for a sit down dinner, fear not… our tapas dinners ALSO include a variety of bite-size desserts!
Mini mango tacos with goats’ milk caramel, lemon cheesecake squares with berries, meringues with vanilla cream and red fruits, and coconut macaroons can all be ordered as part of your tapas desserts. We will also be serving these on our Art House White Night tapas dinner on the 21st of July 2018 – join us to taste them!

We like to switch up the desserts every so often, so returning guests will often have the opportunity to try new things. And if you miss your favourite, we are always happy to substitute the dessert on your menu with one of our old recipes, so you can have your cake, and eat it too.
Our chef decided that it was time to switch things up in the garden and has painted the patio furniture white, giving our outdoor dining room a fresh new look! With this change, and keeping in the subject of white, we are delighted to announce a very special, one-of-a-kind dinner event happening at The Art House Supper Club this summer: our very own white-themed dinner!
The Art House White Night will be held on Saturday the 21st of July, as a celebration of our long summer nights. Guests will enjoy a large selection of savoury and sweet tapas and canapés in a relaxed, cocktail-style setting while socializing with friends and making new ones.
Weather depending we will host the event with our fresh new look in the garden, but as always, this event will be held rain or shine! So gather your friends, grab a nice bottle of bubbly to go with your meal, and come enjoy a great night with us at the Art House.
Note that tickets for this event are being sold on a first come first serve basis and space is limited, so don’t delay to avoid disappointment. We also ask all our guests to participate by wearing your best white outfits, and help us make this an event to remember.
Past visitors to The Art House Supper Club will have had a chance to roam through our gallery-like living and dining rooms and admired our large collection of original art.
In our last post we spoke about the father of our family run supper club, Andres Gurumeta, a talented artist of Mexican descent who has painted many of the oil paintings that now adorn our walls. Andres incorporates his Mexican heritage into his art, often in the bright colours he uses to bring life to his subjects.
Some past guests will know that the idea for our name “The Art House” comes from a former gallery in Zihuatanejo Mexico, owned by Andres and his wife Rose (the chef of the supper club), called “Galeria Casa del Arte” – literally translating to “Art House Gallery.”
As an homage to this gallery, we continue to sell Andres’ art from our North Vancouver supper club, giving our guests the perfect memento, an original art piece to start a collection, or a unique gift idea for those art lovers in your life.
Since starting The Art House Supper Club two years ago, we are proud to be North Vancouver’s first (and still only) secret supper club, and hope to continue to share our journey with you.
The Art House Supper Club is a family affair and we are happy to welcome you into our home to be part of The Art House story. You should know that from our tastefully decorated living and dining room, to our beautifully landscaped gardens and outdoor patio, and of course the food we prepare and serve, everything we do comes from the heart.
Whether you had the opportunity to eat in our garden in summer, or in our art-filled dining room during the cooler months, everyone who has been welcome to our underground “restaurant” knows where our name comes from. Doesn’t take too long after coming in through our front door to see the art-heavy decor, which includes various oil paintings by Andres Gurumeta, the father of our family. It is no surprise that dinner at The Art House Supper Club has been described as eating at an art gallery by many of our past guests!
In the kitchen, our chef Rose (aka mother of the family) creates a different type of art as she cooks, bakes and assembles a plethora of mouth-watering dishes that are as visually appealing as they are delicious. Our food is home cooked and unpretentious, yet beautiful and full of flavour; the courses are thought-out, the cheese platters curated, and the desserts impeccable.
The service by our host Eamonn is also an art in itself. We are not trying to be a 5-star restaurant (in fact, we’re not a restaurant at all!) Our aim is to ensure that all of our guests have a great time, enjoy their dinner, and maybe even learn a thing or two about the food they are savouring. Our host’s friendliness and knowledge, combined with the intimate environment of the Art House, is unlike any other dining experience in Vancouver.
Our long-table public suppers will return this summer, but in the meantime you can host your own private group to experience what The Art House Supper Club has to offer. All you need is eight guests, so invite your family and friends and discover the city’s most unique dining experience. Be part of our journey!
Spring is in the air in Vancouver, and we are looking forward to welcoming more of you to our table!
While we wait for the warm weather to finally get here (with some exciting changes coming to our garden – stay tuned!), we continue to host our supper club dinners in our beautifully decorated art-filled dining room.
While we don’t have any long-table suppers planned right now, you can still visit us at The Art House Supper Club by booking our space for a private booking. All you need is a minimum of eight friends (easy enough to organize a quad date!) and you can enjoy a wonderful four-course meal in North Vancouver’s most unique dining space, starting at only $49 per person… and you can BYOBottle of wine!
We also have cocktail-style tapas menus to host larger parties from 12-22 guests, so come to celebrate those special milestones with us – from birthdays to bachelorette dinners and holiday celebrations, The Art House Supper Club is the perfect venue.
